CB750 K2 "GUIDE front fork pipe"
« on: March 13, 2010, 11:08:41 PM »
Guys,

I did a very silly mistake while assembling my front forks and broke the guide for front fork pipe. I have tried all the local Honda dealers and they all say that the part# 51451-319-000 was discontined by Honda. I even tried searching on www.yamiya750e.com/ but they also do not list the part.

Can someone suggest me where I can find this part? This is my first project and I am trying to restore it to the stock condition... Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have attached pictures of the part for reference.

You should be able to locate one of those on a set of used forks. NOS might be hard to locate. Did you give Western Hills Honda a call in Ohio? They have a bunch of NOS.

Thanks Johnie for pointing me to Western Hills Honda. I will give them a call first thing on Tuesday morning. I guess my only option now is to find a pair of old forks and get the part out of them.

I just bought some brass to make a set for my aging K2 (on my lathe). I won't be starting that until April, but could make an extra pair if you don't find it by then.

Be aware: there are "early" forks and "late" forks. The "late" forks (K3 and later) do not have that collar (more commonly called a "bushing"). You will want the ones commonly referred to as "K0/K1" forks, because the change to non-bushing forks came along during the late K2 frames.  ;)

(Those of you who have my book can see this history in the Suspension chapter.)  ;D

Check here for a local option.
http://www.bikesalvage.com/

The shop has moved from the one on the website, but the phone number is still good.  Helped me with some parts a little while back, nice guy too.
His new "shop" is out of his garage in Renton/Boeing Field area.

Thanks HondaMan for your offer. I would defintely love to get a pair even if you are planning to make them in April. I have sent you an email regarding this.

I am trying to source a pair of old forks desperately to unblock myself as of now. But love to have yours as spares.

Thanks shortduc for the bikesalvage link. I have tried calling him this morning but couldn't get hold of him. Left him a voice message. I will try again tomorrow reaching him.

Thanks Guys for all your response. I can't beleive how dumb I am..for making such a mistake. Learn't it the hard way! Next time I would be very careful with the parts   :-[

I have a pair that have been teflon coated on the inside for additional slipperiness. They were low mileage to begin with andthe coating will perk them up better than OEM (I think). They are available right now. PM me if you are interested.
