New member and wanna be CB owner
« on: September 03, 2014, 05:26:27 AM »
Hi, I'm Mark. I live in Dutchess County, NY. I have the vintage motorcycle bug.

I've been shopping for a while now...the CB's have my eye.

Owned a mid-90s motorcycle years ago in college. Expect the vintage bike experience (especially the maintenance, etc.) will be different, but the challenge is part of what I'm looking for. Been lurking here for a few weeks, and marveling at the depth of knowledge and willingness to share. Advice is welcomed. Thanks!

Looking forward to getting to know some of you!

Best,
Mark

Thanks for the heads-up!  I think I'm leaning toward a 550 or even a 350 (twin), though.  Mostly looking to ride country roads...want something sporting, nimble, and *fun* on the back roads.  Not expecting to use it for "real" transportation or to spend much time at freeway speeds.

You'd be surprised how nimble, sporty and fun the 750s are on the back roads. I live in the city and am in ulster and Sullivan counties every weekend. I love opening up the 750. 350 would be fun in the city but I feel would be lacking in the power with all the hills up there. Just my opinion.

Good luck and welcome!
