I guess this is my first official post beyond my into!
Ok so I have been reading online both on this forum and general google searches and coming up empty. Heres the back story,
I bought a 1979 CB650 for $300 as a my first bike with the hopes of teaching myself about motorcycles in the process of building myself a little bobber project. Bike didn't run when I got it but after a few months work it does now. Although a little rough. I assumed the carbs were probably the problem so started there and completely split my Keihin PD50A carb rack and cleaned it all up. But while doing so I found out there were lots of stripped screws, the throttle linkage spring was missing and the air cut off valves had been removed and replaced with a glob of silicone . . . awesome.
Came across a set of PD50B carbs for $100 cause they were filthy, so I bought them and stole above missing parts to fix the PD50A set. All is well there.
Now the questions . . . the body of the PD50A #3 carb has a stripped out hole for one of the float goal screws which was causing a poor seal and leaking. Can I use the body from the PD50B if I use the internals (jets, floats, etc) from the 50As???
Secondly,I was wondering if I can use the slide/needle sets from the PD50Bs in my PD50As (except the #3 which would hopefully be the B body anyway) as they are in better condition? I believe there is a slight difference in regards to cut out for air flow or something but not 100% sure as like I said previously this is my first bike and I am still very much learning as I go.
Thanks in advance!
