All looks fantastic, did you get the second rings the correct way round, unlike Honda only the second ring has TOP  stamped on it, the others are not.

It's easy to see you wont have yo remove them. The manufacturer stresses important to check second ring is right way up

have a question about the head gasket.

so it seems I have a K gasket, but I've put it on the barrels just to see how it lines up and it actually looks just like it fits perfect... Will check with the underside of the head though.

But is it definitely not done to use it? When I pulled my engine apart before, it had the same gasket and ran fine, no leaks from there...

I have never used a K gasket on the F2, I know the oval shoe was for valve clearance, as far as I can see your K gasket foes not have the coating around the cam tunnel and a few other areas, this seals when hot, and have never had an oil leak, it may work but the correct F2 gasket is what I would use.

I didn't get F2 gasket in time, so used the K gasket.

K gasket was what was on it when I took it apart and was not leaking, so I hope this won't happen now...

barrels and head are one, all torqued down, will post some pics tomorrow

installed barrels on the crankcase after lots of sweating installing the pistons (didn't bend anything, yay :) )





top end assembled and modified the camholders with extra oiling holes and left out the 5mm shaftbolts



and put it back in the bike this morning, did a testdrive in the afternoon :)



so far all is good, but need to adjust the clutch and sync/adjust the carbs. It's popping out of the exhaust quit a bit

so,

Went to Luxembourg this weekend with a friend of mine who rode my K2.

Both bikes did an excellent job with out any problems!
it was over 900km (600 + miles) so was a big test to the fresh rebuild engine..

lots of thumbs up on the way, so it was a good mojo boost as well :)

only thing, it's running a little lean (popping when you let the throttle go) so will have to get into setting the carbs right.

other then that super happy with how everything went being it was my first engine rebuild...
