Hello from Madison Wi
« on: September 08, 2014, 08:59:25 PM »
Hello all I have been reading a lot of the treads on here for months. I finally picked up my first bike about a month ago, a 77 cb 750 Super Sport.  I have already got a ton of information but I am looking forward to learning more.  This is a starter bike for me I rode small dirt bikes as a kid but now I have my first grown up bike. I have been around cars my whole life, selling them is my profession fixing them my hobbie. So this is exciting for me getting to turn wrenches on something with a lot more style and certainly a lot more fun to ride.  I can tell I already have the itch since I am already looking for the next great deal and I haven't even started my first  project.  I hope to start a thread when it's too cold to ride.
Thanks this seems like a great community.

From the map, you are about 2 miles from where I grew up. Just up the road a little ways on Hwy. N.

I just moved out here this summer but I have been a Madison native for years. I love it here with the exception of the snow.

I actually miss the snow. I left in '87 for the USMC, but get back about once a year. My sister and brother in-law still live in the house on N. If you ever need some good custom paint done on your ride, it may be worth stopping in to see him. If you go north on N towards SP, just before the big "S" curve is a white ranch house on the little hill on the right with a custom flame painted mailbox, that's their place. He does really good work and is usually working on some classic car in the detached garage. Here's an example of some of the work he does:

Thanks for the tip sniper. I am pretty sure I have seen that house a few times. I think I will have the paint covered. I would not say I am a good painter very little experience but back in the day I did work for a body shop wet sanding ad polishing. I figure as long as the prep work is solid and I get enough material on I can alway make it look good.  Tews I loved your 550 builds they are part of the reason I ended up with a Honda. Maybe I will see you around sometime

Here is the f2 over 36k and still running strong. All though the forks are sloppy and leaking. The brakes are soft and squishy and it leaks oil from what looks like a lot of places. But for $700 bucks I think I got a pretty solid deal.
