Ebay seller kenosha_kid BRONZE swingarm bushings
« on: September 02, 2014, 08:35:03 AM »
Has anybody used the bronze swingarm bushings from Ebay seller kenosha_kid? He is located in Germany and sells them for $28 shipped! The pictures shows a lip on the inside of the bushing though.

They're probably alright, I looked at those too, but there's others on eBay with a spiral groove cut into them on the inside that helps spread the grease around.

I used them on K3F - i.e. fitting F arm into K3 frame - they looked good and installed without issues.  The bike was not on the road yet, cannot testify more.

Kenosha Kid is a good seller, communicates really well.

Branden, by 'lip' are you referring to that light appearance on the bottom? Looks like light vs lip to me??

I bought a set for my F by Parts Plus but don't remember where I got them. Part 28-1026 (SAH-750N).  Made in Japan. They may have had that spiral. Vintagecb750.com I'm thinking. They are $60 now. Kenosha's is MUCH better pricing.

By lip I am talking about that ring in the center of the inside diameter of the bushing where the collar installs. I just ordered a set. I figure the worst that can happen is I am out $30! lol

Looks like a bronze copy of my NOS set I have in front of me. I think you'll be alright.

SWEET!

Did you install the dust caps and felt washers that are part of the OEM setup or just the bronze bushings?

Just the bushings. With the lip you don't need the other part. I did use the dust caps though.

Make sure you freeze them. I got a set from cb750.com before and those went in easy. To easy actually. Kenosha kids are a snug fit. I had to order a second set when I tried to install without freezing and mushroomed one. Also put in the middle sleeve before install or at least check to make sure you won't have any fitment issues.

Will do. I didn't even think of that. The swingarm collar goes in between the bushings doesn't it?

Swingarm collar goes inside these bushings.

From the outside:

- swingarm
- bushing
- collar
- long bolt

Long bolt is the very center.  The long bolt tightens the frame and holds the collar in position creating a hinge for the swingarm if you understand what I mean.  The collar and the bolt are stationary and bushings with the swingarm rotate.

If you're replacing the earlier style bushings without the top hat, you will only need the metal dust caps like Tews said.  Losing the felt grease seal and plastic ring with this setup will only be an issue if you ride in the rain a lot.

My sandcast is sporting these very bushings, and they feel really nice.

Excellent points Tews. Same here. I believe I even used the felts from the earlier K's inside the dust caps.

Thanks for the help fellas, I will update this thread with a few pictures when I get to the point of installing them. Just as an FYI, about an hour after I bought these the seller contacted me and let me know they are shipping tomorrow. Good seller so far!

Thanks for the link. I like how you did that. Having the collar line up the bushings and pressing it all together looks like the way to do it.

Received my bushings today and they look like great quality. I think they will work great. There is a groove machined into the center that I assume is to hold grease.

While using the center sleeve inside bushing may help line it up, it could end up tight.
Better to install bushings, then fit sleeve to bushings after. Adjustable reamer should do it.

I have used his bushings on two '78K swing arms and they fit perfectly. Freeze the bushing, warm up the swingarm a bit, apply a little grease and tap them in. They need just the right amount of coaxing. Don't need a sledgehammer but snug enough that you need to give them a decent whack or two with a rubber mallet. Highly recommended.
