Throttle cable free play

Slowly but surely, this 550 is coming to life.
I put drag bars on it, and the throttle cables were worn anyway, so I got some shorter ones, along with a Motion Pro throttle. I got these cables, which are for a 400F:

They have a bit more slack, but I thought I could take it out with the adjuster barrels. I can't. The barrels are turned all the out, and I still have some play. Check out the video to see what I mean. The play at the throttle doesn't bug me, and I know there should be some. I'm just concerned that I'll snap the throttle shut and the cable will jump off the plate. Legitimate concern? Overreaction?

Thanks guys,

Get yourself a couple of small washers about the size of the cable sleeve end and use a hacksaw to cut through them to make a "C" shape. pull the cable sleeve back and slip one washer over the cable wire and push the washer into the cup of the adjuster and see if that takes up enough slack, add another one if not.

Brilliant. I was way over-thinking it. Thanks!

I would add a washer or two under the top of the lower attachment bolt, you can see lots of thread past the nut. Between the hex head and the horseshoe washer.
That doesn't really look like "too much" slack to me, are your throttle unit adjusters also all the way out? I would want some adjustment available there.

Yeah, I'll work on cutting up some washers or finding something to slip onto the adjuster bolt at the carb. The adjuster up at the throttle is all the way out, so I have no wiggle room. Plus, nothing to do when the cables stretch...
