Ebay/Paypal experience
« on: September 13, 2014, 04:57:07 AM »
Just wanted to relate my recent experience with this organization, as I know many here rely on it as a source for hard-to-get SOHC4 parts.  Although it wasn't motorcycle-related parts I bought, but instead was a piece of heavy electronic gear that arrived via the International Shipping route and was damaged and non-functioning when it arrived.  I notified the seller and sent him a picture of the damage.  I also opened a Paypal dispute for the item and also wrote to Paypal explaining why I wanted refund for both the item and the International Shipping (as they are separate charges with Ebay).

I'm very pleased to report that the full refund was made in very short order.  I'd definitely recommend Paypal as a means of payment for Ebay - and I'd make sure to carefully pack items for shipment, especially if they are heavy and delicate.

Oh good a happy ending. I was prepared for a horror story. Glad it worked out. I have been happy with my experience with them too.

That was my first reaction also, seems like all you ever hear about Ebay & PP are horror stories. Refreshing to hear the good story. I've had pretty good luck with both.

When an item is damaged, One of 4 parties involved in the transaction has to take the loss someway some how. Be it seller, buyer, shipping company, or middleman(eBay).

If you're buyer, you want seller to take loss

If you're seller, you want shipping company or buyer to take loss

And stories go on

I bought a  cb450 when I was on vacation, located near home town. Worked it out, sent the pay pal, got the notification, and the guy sole it out from under me. Not sure if someone offered more, but I wasn' there and we worked it out on the phone.  Maybe he just wanted it gone ASAP and wouldn't wait 'til the week after the deal.

At least I got my money back.
