Fantastic! Do "we" have a frame color yet? And it appears the head races are still in the frame, are you upgrading to tapered bearings?

Gloss black for the frame. I am upgrading to tapered roller bearings. I left the old races in because I didn't want to damage the internal surface of the head when I blasted the frame. I'll knock the old ones out at some point before I paint the frame.

The races sound like fun, but I'll be out of the state that weekend.

Question...I bought a Rick's solenoid and it has a slightly larger diameter than the stock solenoid. I had planned on using the stock circular mounting bracket, but it won't close with the ends flush around the Rick's. Is there a bracket from another year that might be slightly larger?

It's a tensioned bracket. Slip a washer in between the tabs and clamp it down.

That might work. It's a pretty wide gap. Would take 2-3 washers at least. I was thinking about splitting the bracket and welding a little filler piece as an alternative. It's piddly stuff and it won't be visible, but I spent a lot of time getting all those parts stuffed in there.

I primed the frame today. I'm supposed to go for a long ride tomorrow, but it's supposed to rain. If it does I'll probably stay home and prime some more parts.

I haven't done much in the past few weeks, but today I finished sanding the frame and got the second prime done. I just need to wet sand it with 400 and it's ready for paint.

I'm going to have to put the 750 on hold for the next couple of months and concentrate on the v-twin bobber. I've got to get it into shape for Sturgis. I ordered a new front end and new tires for it this week. I really need to strip it down completely and paint the frame, but I don't know if I'll have the time. I was planning on starting on the v-twin at the beginning of the year, but got caught up in the 750. Now I have to hustle. Next Saturday will be the last ride in its present form before I start ripping into it. I would like to get it done by the end of June or the beginning of July so I can do a Hill Country shake down before heading off to Sturgis. That's the plan anyway.

The buddy of mine you met at the Harvest Classic and I have been trying to get back to the Hill Country and ride the three sisters. When I get the v-twin back together that's the plan. You're welcome to join us. I've only ridden one of the sisters.

I would like to have the 750 finished for the Harvest Classic. Don't know if I'll make it. I still don't have an engine. That's the biggie.

I got the bobber torn down today. I got the new turn out exhaust tips welded in place before I pulled the exhaust. I started stripping the frame. Depending on how it goes I think I'm just going to leave the motor and tranny in the frame and paint around it. Time is precious on this project.

I'll try not to post too many photos of the bobber.

I got the bobber frame stripped and painted. Came out great! I went with Deltron instead of Shopline. Both are PPG products, but Deltron seems to be far superior, at least in this case. Shopline single stage seems to be too soft and it chips too easily. Probably not as many solids as Deltron. I've used Shopline base coat/clear coat before without issue, but not crazy about the single stage. I'm going to go ahead and shoot the CB750 frame with Deltron, and redo a few of the parts I've already painted. Seems like the way to go.

I left the engine and tranny in the frame. I just don't have the time pull it and reinstall it. I was careful to mask it off well. I doubt anyone would guess it was painted with the engine in the frame.

I'm back on the CB750. I've been sanding parts for the last few weekends. I've got the frame all ready to go along with a bunch of parts that will get painted black next Saturday if the weather is decent. The gas tank is block sanded and ready for some more primer.

I've started the assembly. Still need some new parts, like axle adjusters, brake rod, etc. I don't want to get too far into it because I still don't have an engine. Hoping to find one after the holidays.

YSS E-302 330mm. I got them from Moto Madness. The eyelets are a little narrow. I got some rubber washers to fill in the gaps. Also the zinc plated clevis bolts look cheap. I'm going to get some stainless or chrome bolts. Other than that they seem pretty decent.

I really wanted to use Joker Machine headlight ears, but I just couldn't justify spending $200 for them. I opted for the cheaper Emgo ears and drilled them to lighten the look. I'm going to glass bead them and repaint them. I should have bought the silver ones since I'm going to paint them. Wouldn't have saved me a few bucks more.

Yeah, that's 1/3 to 1/2 the price of an engine.
