I got personal property tax assessment and my Dorothy's assessed value is listed as $125.

Yeah, just imagine if it had been assessed closer to actual value, you could have paid a whole lot more in taxes. Wouldn't that be great!

Never heard of or paid a personal property tax. TX does not have State tax either.

Alaska and Nevada also have relaxed tax laws. There is no income tax in Alaska, they give bribe you with a share of Oil Money

AFAIK in Virginia it is different by county.  From my perspective:  once a year I get assessment of all our cars, motorcycles and the trailer and few month later the treasurer sends me a bill to pay.  I think RVs and boats are included too - basically bigger items the county registers.  There is also a discount on mileage and age of the vehicle.

The county next door does not collected these, but on the other hand they have vehicle emissions checked yearly.

Just curious how much you pay per year for the plates? If they are assessing the value the cost of the license must be is based on that. They shouldn't be charging you much if that's what they base the value on.

Here in Washington we have pretty much a flat fee for everything. My 1976 Honda CB550F was $90 year before I sold it. My 2001 Chev Tahoe was $85 and our 2003 Civic Hybrid is $83. Go figure.

My other two bikes have collector plates on them, $165 one time. Never have to worry about yearly tabs again.

30+ years old and you can get one for any vehicle.  mileage is (technically) limited, but i'm always out testing my carb modifications 
you can however, de-classify it and pay yearly licensing fee ($40-$60) and have no mileage retrictions.
My 350F was $120 and my 750K was $165 for the 'Collector" plates.

My antique plates have same basic restrictions, coincidentally, I am always testing my carbs too. They seem to work best when throttle is twisted as much as possible!

I've never met anybody that's actually been pulled over for using their classic vehicle too much. I've passed the same cop twice in a week riding to work, didn't even look at me. Fingers crossed.

Me either. Last time I got pulled over [speeding of course, 15 over] it didnt even come up. I wanted to divert the conversation away from the illegal act and told him I just restored the bike and was on a test ride. He complimented my bike and let me go with a warning!
