Jetting for exhaust and stacks on a CB650
« on: September 12, 2014, 03:01:54 PM »
I have a 1980 CB650 that is running stock headers merged to single mufflers after the crossover on either side and velocity stacks with screens from DCC. I went up a size on the pilot and mains and the bike runs pretty well down low. Problem is going 1/2-wot once warmed up. The bike pulls for about half the available rpm then breaks up and just goes flat. Riding with the choke on some seems to make the bike run a bit better but it still will not rev near redline it seams. I don't remember what jets I have in the PD50 carbs and truth be told I may have drilled  them out some as a temp solution last year. Does anyone have a starting point for jetting that does work with velocity stacks and free flowing mufflers? Are there good sets of jets around for cheap? Are the stock needles adjustable? Any info or advise is welcome except for telling me to put an air box on it! Thanks!

I also replaced my igniters thinking it was an ignition miss originally since all the black compound leaked out of them long ago.

haven't got stacks but running pods I settled on 125 mains. clips are non adjustable but here is a link for shimming them.
