Wow...old Honda's can win against hogs...
« on: October 26, 2006, 10:05:45 PM »
I found myself at a bike ride tonight amongst at least 200 other bikes with
my 750.  The rest were at least 98 percent Harleys.  Well guess what...won
third place.  ;D Maybe they were just showing pity. I probably stood out like
a sore thumb with my red jacket and their black Harley ones.  :D

I had a great time though.  Amazing how many of those hog riders started out
on 750's.  Another thing I noticed was you have to be at least 50 to own one.
One guy had to have been 80...I don't see how he managed to balance it.  :o

Fun time and the weather was great for riding.

This is problably very true. Not that our 750's are "starter" bikes or the 500's for all that matters. The right tool for the right job - NO ONE BIKE is the beat all end all. Some may disagree, but if she is crankin fast and snaps the corners like a whip, chances are you wont want to be on it on 1200 mile run.

Good show on your win there.

I think it was my first outting on the newest 750. At tle local Farm Store/gas station a fellow came in
and asked me about the bike. He is a harley rider now but his first bike was a new 71 he bought for
a Virginia to Canada trip. He put 8000 miles on it from the get go. He said, "It was the best bike he ever owned".

I actually WON first place at an ABATE meet 10+ years ago, with my bone stock 76K. 3k miles on it at the time didn't hurt.

A lot of the older bikers either had one or remebered wanting one, way back when.

I've met alot of cool HD riders who will reminisce about having a bike like mine or at least show some interest in an old bike, I've also run into alot of not so cool HD riders who refuse to give the time of day to anyone on a jap bike.  The former seem to really love riding, the latter seem to really love having a fashion accessory (not to single out the hog guys, I'm sure this could be said of any marque).
