Red dot on brake caliper
« on: September 30, 2014, 05:14:17 AM »
Can anyone shed light on why there is a red dot on the bottom of my caliper on my K1. It appear to be original.

I have the same thing. I believe it is a factory mark to indicate the unit is ready for install.

I think that it means "CHECK". Also appears on the brake fluid reservoir.

Depends if you want OEM look or not. Some guys even put the yellow marks back on for that look.

It's an inspection mark made during assembly of the machine.  Inspector checks, then marks what was inspected so final check can see it was inspected.  Its part of the Quality assurance process.

I decided to find a replacement after powder coating calipers on my CB750F1.

Found same size sticker from Ebay supplier.
