Welcome...sounds like an exciting build for you...and being your Dad's bike...go for it man! You only get that chance once. I bet you are glad you never pulled that 650 out of the garage and stuck a for sale sign on it. How about a little history on your Dad's bike there? Miles, how long did he drive it, condition, have you kicked it over to see if the motor is free? When you get a chance post up some pics. We really like pics here.

Well thanks for the warm welcome! My dads bike is 1980 cb650c it has about 28k on it but its in good shape it was never abused and always stored inside it didnt sit out overnight... he must have bought it when it was fairly new  prob 83 i was prob 10? It ran great no sign of engine wear but, its sat now since 98 hasnt been started, it has no spark( the epoxy from one of the cdi boxs has drooled down the frame...why?)an i have to tear into the carbs yippie, but other than that shes tiptop. I allways said id never sell it id just give it to my son or nephews who never got to meet him b4 sum dub bought an killed it for fun. But im keeping it plus im gonna ride the hell outa it. Guess took till 41 b4 my eyes an mind opened...

Wow...she sounds great. Cafe is nice, but have you considered restoring it to the 1980 condition? The exact way your Dad bought and rode it? If she is that nice might be a shame to tear it apart. I believe you need to have 5 posts before you can put up a pic...so keep talkin' man :)

Welcome and welcome to the world of all different motorcycles. I look forward to seeing what you do with it. If you could swing it, it would be nice to preserve it like your father had it and as you are a Harley guy you could probably buy another one to customize for less than you used to spend on a set of pipes. That's my 2 cents and if you decide to modify this one then more power to ya. Now get to posting and lets see some pics.
