Source for 550 "D" Yellow bearings ?
« on: March 01, 2013, 01:03:09 AM »
First obstacle in my race engine rebuild ...crank journal bearing cups we determined I need by crank measurement and case letter stampings ( all "A's") is no longer available.
Anyone know where I can source all 10 of them ?

Honda part # 13318-323-000

thanks in advance,
Scott

Hey Scott, looks like www.cmsnl.com has 10 of them. Check them out.

If they actually do have the stock would you also order 2x13217-323-003 rod brgs for me on the same order. I'm not in a rush & I'll split shipping with you.

hey Brent..I had seen that site yesterday in my search and meant to call them to confirm what they had for quantity...should have called when I got home this morning from the lovely Midnight shift.. but seeing as i'm about as smart as a small appliance at that point I went straight to bed !! of course they're closed now for the weekend in the UK...will have to call Monday.
Also, will take the spare crank over to Harrys for measuring...with any luck maybe I would need either B or C which are still available..

either way I'll make sure I order yours as well..shipping is on me...I owe you after the 400 "help me" e-mails so far ( ie. more to come?)  :)

sorry..one more thing

I thought I'd read on here that a cb650 crank will drop in the 550 ? so those bearing cups wouldn't work would they? or are the cup case bores a different size? just grasping at straws but thought I'd throw it out there...

the D is listed as...
This Honda 13318-ME5-000 BEARING D, MAIN is also used on these models and components:

1983 CB650SC A CRANKSHAFT + PISTON
1984 CB650SC A CRANKSHAFT + PISTON
1984 CB650SC AC CRANKSHAFT + PISTON
1985 CB650SC A CRANKSHAFT + PISTON

Yes the crank will fit but only 1979, 80 & 81 models, then it becomes a dohc. So bearing sizing isn't an impossible issue, but the 650 crank comes with greater stroke than the 550 so you'll need to use the 650 cylinder. The 650 uses a hyvo camchain so the 650 cam sprocket & chain will be needed. Because of the chain the top engine case needs machining to fit the 650 camchain guide and on & on. Do-able just not a drop in. Besides... if you go to this extreme I'm gonna tell.  ;D At least Tim!

There's a 650 hybrid how-to on here by paulages, you can do a search.

The outfit I mentioned is in the Netherlands. I bought "C" bearings, received four and the rest were backordered but that just changed to NLA so that sucks. They likely will be produced again... hopefully but for now grab them wherever you can.

was wondering how 650 bearing shells compare to the 550 shells..how they were different if both cranks will fit in the 550?

Are you talking C crank bearings showing NLA from CMSNL?

Motogrid shows all con rod bearings A to D available...as well as B and C crank bearings ( A and D are NLA )

I can order your con rod "C's" from there when I order my HYVO , seals etc next week..C's are listed at $10.38 ea....Honda dealers in Canada don't have the C con rod bearings?

Does anyone have information about the 550 / 650 bearing shell interchangeability?

Cheers
