I made my slave tank from an old riding plastic riding lawn mower hung in a bird cage holder.  :o  Works well. That gas tank had a crap job done with Red-Kote. Good product if done correctly and with the petcock off the tank  :D I have fixed a broken carb like that before, happens when the emulsifier tube.main jet is cranked down too hard, but think your better off getting a replacement on that one crusty sucker. Good luck.

That's a good idea with the hanging tank. Yea the inside of my tank looks like Freddy Krueger's face after a dry shave. I should have my tank usable again soon though. I also found a #1 carb body in great condition for $45 from a member on here.

Received the replacement #1 carb body today (on the left) so now I'm one step closer to getting the bike running again. Now I need rebuild kits. I think I'm going to skip putting the stock jets back in since I know I'll be using pods or velocity stacks and high flow exhaust almost immediately. Question is do they sell rebuild kits with these bigger jets included? Also, pros/cons of pods vs velocity stacks?

Al the dents and pinholes have been repaired and its been sanded smooth and primered. Now all that's left is a new liner and I'll have it back to start putting the new petcock, fuel lines and rebuilt Carburetors back together

How did you repair the holes in the tank?

The pinholes on the bottom were cut out and a patch installed and welded. The crease in left front, suffered a tear out when the dent was pushed out due to rust-rot of the tank. Cut a patch and welded it in too. Ground everything smooth then used a teaspoon of bondo, sanded smooth, followed by Etching Epoxy primer (sanded between coats). Voilà

The carb kits didn't come with new o-rings for these so I went down to the store and bought these viton o-rings that's suppose to be safe for fuel. I didn't know the exact size but these seem to look and fit right. The old ones were so old and worn they were flat and hard like plastic. We'll see how well these work.

Not that anyone is following this anymore but the o-rings are too big I guess. They won't slide in.
