Is the BLUE you're holding, coming from the headlight or from the harness?
If you look at the wiring diagram I attached, there's a BLK, WHT and BR/RED coming from the switch housing. The BLK carries your HI beam current and also is used to power your idiot light for the HI.
Your stock Turn Signal Relay may not be functioning if your battery is weak, and that can be why you're not seeing the idiot light. It could also be wiring, but let's wait and see.
Tach and Speedo back lighting is served by BR/WHT. There should be a multi connector in there with multiple female ends that the gauge wire plugs into.
Your bike may have the Clutch Safety wiring routed through the START button, DK GRN/RED. Don't confuse this one with the NEU wiring. The START also uses YLL/RED to the solenoid.
Side note: you know I love you man, but those red plastic crimps are sh!t and gotta go! They will let you down day after day and you'll be pulling your hair out chasing electrical problems. They are not reliable nor weather proof at all. In your climate, this is really important. Go to
http://vintageconnections.com and grab a kit of stock connectors and their crimping tool and replace all those. Please!
