Help ID this electronic ignition
« on: September 23, 2014, 12:50:43 PM »
I have one on each 550 I recently picked up. One is grey the other is black. The Grey matter is almost Styrofoam like.

I searched for pics on the site but nothing comes up.

Terry from AU is a Prestolite authority, just ask him   ;D  lets see if he chimes in. Think one I have on a 750 is black in color.  He claims that they were not super high end and were inexpensive back in the day. Not sure on yours though Nick what it is , just telling a tale from old posts

Thanks Eric. I did more searching. Both of what I have look just like the ones on the site here. I can't complain. Both of these 550s sat for years and today I got the 550F running. Now it's time to pull the engine and fit my build in it.

I have to get over to your build thread to see what the heck your throwing together. See you were posting some parts and changing your direction. Are you dissembling one of your new purchases ?

The 550F is now the platform for my  build. Keeping it stock minus the 605 engine I built. The motogpwerks exhaust as well. Everything else should stay the same. Minus upgrades that can't be seen by the eye when staring at it when complete.

Wow that bike is going to be a real ripper for sure!  I have one of the persolite ignitions works good.  Can easily over advance it if not paying attention.

Sounds like a 'sleeper' build.
