clear coat prep
« on: September 24, 2014, 04:49:35 AM »
So I have my base coat on (solid color enamel, rattle can job) and have 2K urethane clear to apply. Whats the best prep on the base for the clear? Thanks

I've painted two bikes with a bc/cc.  Both times I spayed the clear about an hour after the final basecoat.  My basecoat was a 2k automotive paint.

With some of these paints and 2k primers, depending on how long you wait, you may need to scuff the bc prior to spraying the clear.

Don't scuff any metallic colors.  I won't tell how I know this.  Just completed my two tone harley repair and it brought back some rookie moments.

For solid color if it has already dried. Wet sand with 600 to break the skin and tack rag then clear coat
