carb float thingy
« on: October 08, 2006, 11:10:48 AM »
What is the piece under the float on the left carb (#3)? The right carb (#2) is missing it. I'm guessing it helps regulate float height, but how important is it?

I actually took apart the carbs thinking that the #3 was leaking because the floats were sticking. I opened the #2 just to have something to compare it to.

edit: I also notice that the gold post/jet thingys are in different positions on the bottom of the carb, next to the floats. Is this a symmetry thing as they are at the center line of the bike? or is this a problem?

Thanks.

It is a piece of spring steel, when the float bowl is fitted it puts pressure on the main jet to stop it falling out, It is therefor quite important, but if it hasn't fallen out yet then????

Those are your low speed jets, they are just fine where they are.
Bikes parked out front mean good chicken-fried steak inside.

Sweet, thanks. Found the piece and put it back in. It must have fallen out when I took the bowl off.  :-[ It all works now, though. So  ;D .
