CB 550 looking for 5A, 7A and 15A fuses where to get them?
« on: September 29, 2014, 06:08:02 PM »
Hi anyone knows online where to find those fuses? I went to Radio Shack and different places, but no one seems to carry them.

Thanks.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Most of those stores don't carry the proper length ones that are OEM Honda. You either have to fit the longer or shorter ones in. Unfortunately the contact surface between the fuse and the fuse box contacts is quite minimal. I've had one end pull out of the contact bar once while riding, not fun. I would say for runnability sake, put in a mini 2 prong fuse box type. For restorability's sake, if you can find the OEM fuses buy a lot of them! They are hard to find.

Honda Part #98200-20700 = 7A

Honda Part #98200-21500 = 15A

I used the larger, automotive type fuses without issues.

Your best solution is to switch to a blade fuse block. Easier to find replacement fuses, and no glass involved.

I should have some from previous builds. No longer needed as everything here is Italian.

Let me look. They were ordered from Honda.

Do yourself a favor and ditch those #$%*ty tube fuses and get a blade style fuse box.

@toytuff are you sure they are the 5a. 7a and 15a? The part # shown in the package seems different. How much want for sending me 3 of each? To this zip code 33023?

Honda used the same fuse for eons. Just different part number. These were for 750, 160, ca77 and everything else that went through the shop excluding the CBX.
Let me count and see.

I have a total of 14. 5-5a, 5-15a and 4-7a. Would like to sell as a complete package since I don't foresee ever using them. $8.00 shipped sound good? Cost $3.00 to ship Standard. PP as gift/money owed.

Shoot me a PM if you want them.

I just use 3 of the inline blade fuse holders. They live in the tool tray under the seat next to a small plastic box that the fuses are sold in. There are 2 extra of each fuse in that box next to a roll of electrical tape. My tools are in a leather bag under the headlite. Works for me!
