1972 CB500 - Installing Sealed Rear Axle Bearings
« on: October 08, 2014, 09:54:37 AM »
Replacing the open faced bearings with bearings sealed on both sides (NTN 6304LLU and 6305LLU).  What do I do about the tabs on the larger spacer?  I realize they are there to keep things from getting buggered up when you remove the axle.

Do the tabs on the left side of my photo clamp around the smaller collar/spacer?

Thanks

its only for sentering the  distance tube....the small part sits in the bearing..so dont need sentering..so it are fine as it are..
good idea to use closed sealed bearings

The tabs center the spacer. They bend when you push the spacer aside to drive out the bearing. Straighten them out an reinstall the spacer.
