I've been to the Palace in Prescott, AZ. The article mentioned that the patrons saved the bar from the fire, but failed to mention that they dragged it across the street, in front of the Territorial courthouse, and resumed drinking while the town around them burned down. Some of the miners decided the best way to fight fire was with fire, and tried to Dynamite the burning wooden buildings out, but their efforts only caused the spread of the raging inferno. When the town was rebuilt, brick and mortar were preferred over wooden structures.
