Front Fork Lock Replacement - 1974 CB750 - Help Needed
« on: October 26, 2006, 10:03:43 AM »
I have looked through several sections of my Honda factory service manual, Honda's general service manual, but I cannot find where it explains the front fork lockset removal and installation. I just bought a NOS lockset from Western Hills and will be very happy about needing to carry around only 1 key.

Help/input appreciated.

Regards,
Gordon

If it hasn't changed from the earlier locks, if you have a key for the lock you want to remove, insert the key, turn it to the unlocked position and the lock mechanism should slide out after removing the screw.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

If it is in the unlocked position, you can just pull it free with needlenose pliers after removing the screw and plastic cap.

Just did this myself. Pulls right out. Be careful not to loose the little spring.

Hey guys, it worked. I had a T1796 key which matched the number on the lock. It's odd though, I had to file down the sides of the key because it was too thick/wide to go into the steering lock. once I thinned it to .070 it went in. I guess the newer factory pre-cut keys are thicker. The lock turned to the left and pulled right out like you told me it would --

Thanks again.

Gordon
