cb750 Front Fork Damper Wear
« on: December 08, 2015, 04:11:59 PM »
Wanted to see if anyone had any info on the front fork damper rods. I felt around the inside of the fork tubes and felt a smaller diameter ring near the bottom where the damper rod slides into. Is that a check valve of some sort? Does the Damper Rod need to create a good seal there?

I am asking because one of mine (just got the forks to rebuild and use on a project) Is really rough, but structurally there. I posted in the parts wanted, but have had no bites yet, so I figured I would ask to see if it could still be used.

here is what it looks like:

Some of the coarse areas is black petrified fork oil i think, but the metal is certainly corroded.

The one that is in decent shape I had to drill out the screw, have yet to put it in a vice to extract the other one just yet. It still structurally sound, is that all it needs? Thanks!
