No problem. Also before installing new ones remember to check if the old ones are removed. If I wouldn't know from forum about their existence for sure I could have leave them inside. Jeez my English is killing me :)

I have a CB350 twin, 1972, pretty orange color,  carbs ready, stock pipes, good compression, really easier to ride than 500/550. Smaller, less power, many a man started on these! C'mon!   ;D Bill
Has NOS seat also, really original bike.

Bad news, good news.
Bad news is that the 550 sold.  But the good news is that I showed Logan the photo of the Cognito Moto 350 that cal linked and he went, "WOW!  I would definitely want to ride something like that!".

So now we know the style he likes and I think a big part of it is that he was intimidated by the 750's size.

I'm going over to Bill's to help him work on that 77 750F to get it ready to sale.  While there, we're going to see if he has a 550 engine because he does have a 550 frame.  Maybe we can find all the pieces we need to start working on a 550 for Logan now!  So thanks a ton for posting that photo, Cal!  :D

Oh...and the best news...we found the little, tiny washers and o-rings we were missing for the pilot jets.  So, I'm working on putting those in the carbs right now.  Might just get Stella running smoothly at idle now.

It's always a mixed blessing when you decode your teenagers desires. Good to know, bad to endure!

When my oldest first wanted to ride, we shopped for bikes. He was also intimidated by larger displacement bikes. I had to tell him, even 350cc twin bikes with 21BHP will kill you. They go fast enough to put you in harms way. So, instead focus on the nature of the bike and the style of the bike you'd like, and let's go from there.

Of course, training, parenting, safety gear, are all requirements in our household. But if Logan can survive riding a bike, it should make him a better overall driver. And it might just "slow him down" a tad behind the wheel  :)

I may be get burned in effigy for offering this: since he's just done a nut and bolt restoration, something a bit more creative may be stirring inside him. Might want to test this notion with him. And the design/decision process involved is a whole different set of challenges over stock.

I would suggest a running reliable bike as the donor. Let him get some seat time before any rebuild.

How did you guys break the news to your wives that there was another woman you're in love with?  Gotta figure out how to tell mine.

Because I took Stella out for her first ride today and, ohhhh baby, I'm in love.   Fixing the pilot jets by getting the little washers and the proper o rings makes her purr when she idles now.  So I put the air box back on, buttoned her up and took her for a 2 mile ride.    ;D

Man, I had forgotten how much fun it is to ride!!!

I had a motorcycle I nicknamed "The Other Woman."  Fitting, as it never got jealous and was always fun.

Martin,
You're so right.  I came back into the house and went to where Logan was watching television and hugged him.  He asked, "what was that for?".  I told him, "because you did an awesome job on that bike.  She's quick and I love it."

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.  You guys are the reason she's running and running well now.

Question for you guys...I notice that there's a Honda logo plate on the front of the bottom triple tree.  My '78 doesn't have that. I bought mine from a guy who had started converting it to a cafe but prior to that there was the big fairing and hard saddlebags. Some of those, as I've understood (and very possibly incorrectly) were a dealer option. If that's the case, was the plate removed for that or is it just missing or did some of the '78s just not have them?

Yes, it's missing. The '77-78 750K's had them.

Thanks.  I have them ready to go on.  I never could find the rubber piece that goes between the bracket and the seat rail so I bought some of the Versimold to make some instead.  I have made one of them but I have to take the time to make another so I can mount them.  The wiring is hooked up and ready to go.  All I have to do is mount the rear turn signals and plug them.

seth, mine was missing when we bought the bike as well.  I bought it from eBay and also bought the mounting bracket that it hangs on off eBay as well.  I had seen it on some other bikes and that was the only reason I knew it was missing.

By the way, I have a nephew named Seth McAllister (with 2 L's instead of the 1 in your name) so every time I see a post from you, it makes me think my nephew is posting!  :D
