Finally, It Lives!
« on: September 29, 2006, 09:24:36 PM »
Last night I installed new plugs, set the points, and set the timing on my NEW F2 motor (with Mike Rieck's help).  I took it out of the garage, into the drive way, and hit the starter.... and hit the starter....and hit the starter.  Nothing.  I said to myself, "F*** it, go to bed".  So as I lay in bed, I wondered "Gee, what if I put the choke on?"

Anyway, this afternoon, I backed it out to the driveway again, put the choke on, and noticed that the kill switch was off.  It fired right off,  I rode for about 15 miles.  I'd forgotten what it was like.

Still a few issues, the rear brake doesn't, (probably air in the line) and... surprise, surprise... carburetor problems, but from here on out, I think it's going to go well.

Great news John...I've been wondering. That engine is new and should run !00% better especially in regard to power.

Carburation difficulties?? That's a ported head with everything sealing well. What could possibly cause carb problems??

Floats were too high.  Like Bob, I can take 'em off & put 'em back in 20 minutes. ;D  Runs fine after that.

You know what they say.  There are only three things that are for certain...  Taxes, death, and CB carb problems... :P

Glad you got it running again... it feels good doesn't it?

I don't think most of those guys would recognize a classic.  To paraphrase Steelye Dan, they wouldn't know a diamond... ;D ;D ;D
