Topic: Circlip for motorcycle chain?

The right and wrong side of the circlip - aka round side and square side is relatively new concept to me - I do it for last few years only but i believe in it too. Here is s mercedes timing chain.  As stated before, chain pins made for traditional clip are not suited for circlip. Also under pressure circlip rotates, does not open or slide out like long clip.

That said - this modification is not to be done on home mechanics level, the connecting link would have to be made for round clips.

I was not very clear....
Show me how you rivet a solid link with that tool.  Or a cheap tool doing the job...
Breaking the chain can I do with a grinding tool (drilling machine)  and hammer with a mandrel as I did first time when cutting chain from 104 to 100 links

The tool needed is a riveting tool. Breaking chain is extra bonus, not mandatory.

Most cheap riveting tools are made for hollow links. Like the  "Riveter KM500 Style" that cannot rivet solid links. I tried and it broke.

Haha, I assure you that is a riveting tool. You flip the little cups to rivet. 
It does the job, many people get by with the same tool.

If the circle clip in the front on a drive chain were to somehow get dislodged with some kind of chain flex than that plate would be a flapper and could be a problem. Wonder if the current design may be more flexible or its just the way its been done since dinosaurs  and nobody wants to change ??

My bet is the chain clip design is a don't fix it if it ain't broke type of thing. It will probably stay that way too
