675b carb questions
« on: October 04, 2014, 05:27:40 PM »
Hi - My 76 cb550 came to me with 675b carbs.  I have a set of 087As on the bench but am working with the 675s.  In the picture, the red oval for #1 carb (has the choke) shows a plug.  The other 3 carbs do not have this plug nor do the 087As.

This OK?

Also, the rectangle passage, on #1 and #4; Where do those go?  I'm spraying in every hole and have found where it comes out for all except these two.

Any help is appreciated...

675b?  That's a new set up number, which I have never heard of.
627b was found on Cb500s.  Is that what you have?

All the carbs are made from the same casting, but have different drilled passages depending on their position in the rack.  The top holes in the chamber (Rectangle) are bowl pressure equalization vents, some of which connect to adjacent carbs.  The outer positions only need a connection to one mate carb, and therefore have no drilled outlets.

Regarding the passage plug.  Have you verified/checked the carbs without plugs to determine where the passage routes?

Ha!  My bad.  627b, you're correct Sir.

Thanks for confirming the vents.

I just sprayed in the 627b passage plugs and don't see any fluid exit from vent tubes/gas lines/inside the carbs.  Could it be those too are not used?  Here's a pic of the full rack.
