What a week
« on: October 04, 2014, 03:27:55 AM »
On Wednesday morning I was woken at 3:30 in the morning with the missus having contractions about 15minutes apart.  What a start to my birthday.  Anyway we waited to see how it progressed, at about 9 am we headed off to the hospital, we were told she wasn't in labour, but after an examination found out she was in the early stages, she was told to go home and come back later.  I dropped her off at her mothers place which is close to the hospital and went off to work for the rest of the day.  I got a phone call about 4:30 in the afternoon that she needed to go to the hospital soon.  So I went home, showered and headed over.  We got to the hospital and basically had to demand to stay because apparently she still wasn't in labour, because she was too happy.  The midwife examined her and found she was 2cm dialated and fully descended, so they let us stay for the night.

Early the next morning the midwife came in and said, that they were going to send us home because she still wasn't in labour and it could be a few weeks more.  We refused because she was in too much pain, contractions were 2-3 minutes apart and quite strong, they finally decided to do another examination and found that she was fully dialated.  Well long story short about 2 hours later we had our daughter in our arms.  To her credit, Hannah didn't even break a sweat till the last 20 minutes.  Mum and bub were discharged from hospital on Friday afternoon and have been doing well.  All little Emily-Rose has done is sleep and 'eat', only heard her cry once since she was born. ;D ;D

Congrats and enjoy your new baby. I still look at my Son now who is 26 and just wonder how it went by so fast. Take the time to enjoy the little things.

Congratulations to you and the missus.

I was there for the birth of all three of mine, moments you never forget. The two boys tower head and shoulders above me now (and still growing ::)) but I still got an inch or so over my fifteen year old daughter, and it's her I'm taking to a local bike show tomorrow. Can't persuade her to get on the bike, but she can't get enough of the Wall of Death, which I'm sure we'll have to see at least twice while we're there. So looking forward to an expensive, but very special dad and daughter day tomorrow :) Can't beat it!

Yay!

We've got two daughters. The big one likes Mommy better but the little one is all mine. She loves her daddy and he loves her!

Those doctors.. I love when they think they know stuff without actually seeing for themselves. Oh well. Ended the right way anyhow!

Congrats, we have 3 girls. Daughters are fun too. The youngest is the 13th female in a row in my family. We drag race, my youngest was welding my new race trailer together when she was in jr high and the middle one drives our 180 mph dragster. All of them pitched softball. Two granddaughters now, the oldest told her mommy she wants a little wace car. L0L.

Thanks everyone, we had a visit from the midwife today, mum and bub are doing fantastic.  Emily-Rose has only dropped 30g from her birth weight.  She is Hannah's first but my fourth.   My eldest is a boy the other two are girls.  I will admit though I'm a little out of practice, it has been 8 years since I've had a newborn in the house.  The older three think she is the best thing since sliced bread, even though the eldest was most upset when he found out he didn't have a brother.  After all he ordered a brother not a sister  ;D

Good looking kids mate and a family to be proud of.
My youngest girl (another Hannah) is 10 years younger than the last one but I reckon that it's a lot easier having a bit of a break.

At least you know what to expect and what's hiding around the corner.
Wouldnt be dead for quids mate.  ;D
