I just got my electronic ignition in the mail. I'm heading out to Joshua Tree tonight to go rock climbing and hang out in the desert. When we get back Saturday afternoon my plan is to install it, and recheck the entire electrical system for issues. Hopefully my over-charging issue will be resolved.

Yea, I mean I'm just going to follow the instructions. I'll timelapse the video and see how it goes. I'm thinking about doing it tonight. Although, I don't have a garage I do have some lights and a side yard...I'll let you all know how it goes.

Thank You! This helped me out a lot!



Worked on the bike. Installed the ignition and i statically timed it. Took a little longer than I expected(2.5 hours instead of 1 hour) but overall pretty good! Excited to have this in my bike. Next step is dyna coils.

I just got the Dyna S ignition from dime city cycles. pretty solid, and rather easy to do. I need to get a carb balancer, and balance my carbs. It was pretty easy man, If you have rewired the bike yourself and done simple things, putting a new ignition in isn't very difficult! You can DO IT!

Dyna S ignition does not require Dyna coils. Stock coils are good, well designed and very reliable. The only weakness if you could call it that, is the hard wired plug wires can not be replaced. They can be spliced and new caps can be had, but if your wires do truly go bad, it's new coils or used stock units.

If you have the room in your budget, I like new coils using modern wires and quality resistor caps (NGK).

Right on. thank you for the information Cal J. Updates on the bike. Charging problem has been resolved. It is no longer overcharging at all! AWESOME!

Just a little short video of riding today. Took it out to make sure everything is in working order. Front brake feels a little spongy so I'm going to re-bleed it tomorrow or sometime within the next week. I'm also installing a spring to pull back my rear brake.

Not a ton to talk about this past week. I've been running around like crazy. Although I did purchase a few parts including a spline and the adapter for the clip ons. When I have some free time I'm going to be putting all that together for the rear brake. Other than that, the bike is running really well. I need to balance the carbs, possibly drop the needle because of the new intake but running to best quality fuel the pump can offer helps a lot in this as well. I was getting a lot of backfire when I would roll off the throttle because the mixture was really lean, I'm assuming. So it was backfiring a lot. Although, this has stopped since going from the 85 to 92 octane. I'm probably still going to mess with the needle and drop it one notch. I'm purchasing a carb balancing kit in the near future to balance the carbs. As well as a light to dynamically time the ignition. I'll post some photos when things change!

It's been a little while. I've had some unfortunate family things happen that have side tracked the process of my bike. I just bought some new things, and will be putting those on soon. Basically I bought a bunch of small pieces that are going to make my back brake actually function as a back brake and do it right. I'll end up purchasing the back brake light switch soon, once I have everything figured out. I'll post some pictures of it, when I am working on it and when I finish.

Finally got to install the spline and everything. First time around it didn't go exactly as planned. I bought the wrong spline and it didn't fit very well. I then purchased a 2nd one for 15 dollars from Ebay and it fits perfectly. I now need to get stronger rod to go from the spline to the rear brake. I bought some from home depot and it's just really weak. I'm not able to press on the brake hard enough to really feel the back brake because the threaded rod bends. But that will be fixed in time.

Get some 6mm steel rod, and some 1/4" ID aluminum or steel tubing. Cut each to length, thread rod into rod ends with the tubing over top as a sleeve. Prevent the rod from bending.

I used a carbon fiber hunting arrow shaft since I had about 200 of them laying about. Fit like a
