I'm thinking it won't fall directly into place but I'm not sure of that. It seems like I saw a pic of one on a sohc  750, if that helps.

I put one on a 750 to see how it would look but changed my mind ,fit on good though,cant see why it wont fit a 550 other than size.bill

Will the tunnel in the 750c tank fit on the 500 backbone. Is the tunnel wide enough?

If you've seen the frame on the later Honda's you will know why the tanks fit easily on the older bikes, you will have a mile of room under a later tank on a 500-550 because those little honda's don't have the extra side rails under the tank...
