1980 Kawasaki KZ1000
« on: October 11, 2014, 05:22:36 AM »
Found out this week a guy I work with has a KZ1000. He's had some health problems and says it been parked for a couple of years. Don't know if he use to drag race it but he says it use to be a drag bike and had a turbo on it. No longer has the turbo charger on it and has some type of aftermarket exhaust on it. Have not seen the bike but he's says he'll bring me some pics. I'll post them when I get them.

He's already crossed over, Johnie, he has the Harley. I think he is what I call Kawasaki-curious!
Back in the day, Kawasaki was the bike to beat on the strip, so you still see a lot of them modified for racing.
Not my style, but his bike might be something like this?

Who knows Johnie. Being a drag bike at one time it might be modified hard core and wore slap out and in rough shape. Don't even know if he would part with it.  Just when I here someone has a old bike I get a little excited and get interested in checking it out especially a KZ1000 Kaw. Between the three 750's, the Wang, and Wide Glide I've got plenty to keep me busy for sure. The thing is though my past track record shows when I go just to look at a bike I can't keep them from following me home ::) heartaches nothing but heartaches ;D

Stev-o if its similar to the pic you posted not my style either. I got my Harley in 1999 I think and crossed over to Honda in 2009 when I got my K6 after being out of the sohc4 world for nearly 30 years.

Still waiting to see some pic's of this Kwacker that has followed you home.

Eric
Is there anything more fun than riding? They are between your legs and are quiet when you turn them off.

Eric, no Kaw KZ1000 has followed me home. A person I work with has one, when he gets me some pics I'll post here. Says it's a former drag bike so don't know how it's been modified or chopped up.
