Stolen cb750
« on: October 11, 2014, 07:44:12 AM »
My former bike; recently sold to a friend was stolen. It's a 75 cb750 with a baby blue tank and lester wheels. The exhaust is a sidewinder exhaust with a bare yoshimura can from a vf1000R mated to it. On the indicator lights there is a vintage sticker for Grab-On handlebar grips. It has superbike bars on it. The shift lever is from an Aprilia and looks different than stock. The case covers have a brushed finish to them.  The seat pictured was not sold with the bike. It now has a stock seat on it. Hopefully it was not crushed for a few hits from a crack pipe as is very common around here.
It was stolen in the Shelbyville area of Kentucky.
Please keep an eye out for it.

He ran out of gas and it was gone when he made it back to it. I personally never leave any of my bikes alone in these situations. Having picked up many a bike from customers with just me and my partner, and no ramp, I know how easy it is to load a bike and go. I guess my friend learned the hard way.....

Today no need of leaving the bike in the mobile phone era. Just call for help, a friend brings gasoline to the bike.

Could it have been hauled by the police?

The Lesters make it pretty obvious.

Get in touch with Bob at Magnum's on upper Dixie in Louisville and ask him to be on the look out. Post a notice there too. He runs a used bike and wrecker business that gets a lot of traffic. Tell him Drug Man told you to talk to him.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Not the police. We have talked to them and have a report in. I'll give those guys a call and provide a VIN so they can identify it, if they see it come through. Thanks!

It's not like it was 20 years ago or even 10 years ago. Pretty much everyone and definitely the low life scum bas%@*@# know that these sohc4 Honda's have become very collectable and they can be sold or parted out for nice chunk of change. Even bigger $$ if your a sorry excuse for a human being and steal a bike that the owner has already put his time and money into it to restore it.

Call me extra cautious, but I don't leave any of my sohc4's alone. When I ride them to work I park them inside, and when I go to lunch I go to the handful of places and eat that I can still keep a eye on them while eating. If I know Im going some place that I will have to leave my bike parked out of my sight I will not ride it, I'll just take my Chevy truck.

Put a stolen lookout report on CL also in your area with a reward but be cautious with those people also. Seems there are a lot of thefts around the South Bend Indiana area as I see a lot of 'help find' stolen adds around there.

Well, after being gone for over a year and a half, the bike was found! I was contacted by a guy looking for the title. Once I told him it was stolen, he cooperated with me and the police to get the bike back to me. Everything is still on the bike except the license plate; even the Lester mags. However, it is clear that the bike sat in a very wet area. The tires have mossy mold on the them and there is bad corrosion all over the bike. I haven't even tried to start it yet as there is much work to be done. ....but it's home again!!

Since the sale had just occurred, my friend did not have time to transfer the title, so it is still in my name. He will get the bike back.
To get the bike back I had to contact the police local to the where the bike was found and the Kentucky state police, to whom the stolen bike was originally reported to. I tried to arrange to meet them at the location so that I could just load it up and go home. The police refused to cooperate and just called a tow truck to go pick up the bike. I had to pay for this tow truck and the associated storage fees. This did not make me happy! The guy that was trying to get the title told me he had the bike ready to ride and restore but just needed the title. I felt bad for the guy at first, but he was lying as the bike has clearly not been started nor had air in the tire for ages. The brakes were locked up and the fuel was sludge. He was just trying to get a bit of sympathy from me, and I even told him I would give him a little$$ for his troubles, but I retracted that offer after I realized he was BSing me.
The trooper whom I filed the case with is building a file against the person that sold this guy the bike. Apparently, he is already in jail for domestic violence so he will not be hard to track down. I hope they get the right guy!! Who knows where this bike has been in in the last year and a half?

I'm surprised about the no-part either. I told the guy that had it the wheels were worth twice as much as what he spent on it, but he thought they we stock. lol!
I just had liability on it, so no towing coverage. However, If charges are pressed I can try to recover the $$$ from the thief.

Interesting you should ask! I asked him the same thing. He said the DMV (County Clerk here) told him the bike was registered to me and gave him the address. He left me a note to call. The DMV did not show it as being stolen, but when he contacted his local police after our conversation, they did. Go figure! Seems the DMV should be one of the first to know....
