Engine mounts after powder coat
« on: February 02, 2015, 07:31:37 AM »
How precisely does the engine bolt in the frame? Is there wiggle room or should i sand off the powdercoat on the contact/mounting points on the frame where it will contact the engine?

You or your powder guy should have taped those off.  Did he get powder inside the mount holes?  Its hard to tell.
Should have rounded off that lower mount lip before powder, too.
Makes the engine install much easier.

I recently powder coated the frame on my cb500, looked a lot like that.  Engine fit in there fine.

I'd also be  concerned about poor engine electrical ground. .  I added a separate ground strap from the
head to the frame just to be sure of a resistance free connection to frame ground.. .

There's enough wiggle room. Removing powder may allow rusting. Separate grounds are not needed. Over kill but hey..... Just grind off the powder at the ground mount and clean up the connector.
