« on: October 14, 2014, 11:16:05 AM »
Well hell, pretty sure the wife is gonna make me move into the garage after this purchase...

2015 Harley- Davidson Freewheeler in Superior Blue. What a blast to ride!! Yes boys, I've moved to the dark side. (Well, not completely, I still have the Honda's. ;))

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Motorcycles/freewheeler.html

No actual Honda's were killed or injured during the filming of these pictures....

Not a death sentence ;D Not a trike but I've got a 1997 Harley Wide Glide besides my four Honda's. I guess my only excuse is I had the Harley 10 years before getting back into the sohc4 world and just like Glide to much to let it go ;) I'll take first dibbs on the CB1100  though if you I mean the wife ;D decides one of the Honda's have to go.

So you've always wanted a trike? Never had or rode one, so how do they differ besides the officious of course ::)  Never been my cup of tea just like two wheels but after seeing the price $24,999 I guess I'll never know what it's like to own one. That would buy alot of sohc4 Honda's and maybe CBX and a Z1 thrown in there to ;)

Yes, I've always liked trikes. For many years I've been a big fan of Harley's old Servi-Car. I like the look. It's not always about the ride. Even in the late 70's, all those custom chopped trikes caught my eye. This Freewheeler, to me at least, captures the look & spirit of the old Servi-Car, but with a modern, hot-rodded approach. I know they're not everybody's cup of tea, but then that's why we have such a variety & choice of what to ride. I like this Freewheeler cause it's not weighed down by all the stuff that the Tri-Glide has. (Fairing, Tour-Pak, Espresso Machine....etc.) You don't counter steer, you push-pull. As long as the road ahead is smooth, it's a very comfortable ride. And FUN! Did I mention it was FUN to ride? Remember when Honda came out with the ATC90 and what it did for the off road bike segment? Again, it changed the way people had fun riding trails. I know, I could of had many old CB's or CBX's for what I paid, but to be honest, I've always gotten off on the riding and not so much on the wrenching. With this Harley and my CB1100, I can just walk out to the garage, flip the switch, and go.  ;)

Their sharpe looking bikes IMO. I've heard different reviews mostly good, but some are not that impressed. So let me ask someone who owns one. How do you like the CB1100. Would you tell someone to buy one if it their considering  buying a new bike.

Yeah the ATC90 3 wheeler was popular with the balloon tires and all. But if I remember they were banned in the US because people were getting hurt a even killed on them because of stability problems with them turning and flipping over so easy.

Hell Yeah! They are a very nice bike and just like most Jap bikes, they sell for thousands less used. The ones that aren't so impressed are the ones looking for more grunt and for that I say buy a CBR 1000. The CB1100 is a refined bike that will still get up and go although not enough for some. I've had mine pegged at 110 before I let up on the throttle. Great gas mileage, I average between 46-48 mpg. Stock seat leaves a lot to be desired for long ride comfort. (I'm usually good for an hour and a half before I need a butt break!)

Yeah, there's a reason why they plaster them with 'Ride Responsibly' stickers. Just like the idiots that get killed or maimed on todays 4 wheel ATV"s, you've got to know the limits of the machine. And wearing the gear don't hurt either... ;)

I know this seems like question and answers time for you, but let me throw one more out there ;) I've got a 750K6 just like you and I really like mine and for a 38 year old bike it does very well but I don't have any thing to compare it to other than my 97 Glide.  I've never rode any new current  bikes . But after riding both does the K6 even belong on the same road with the modern CB bike.

Best answer I have for you is yes, a little more work is involved to keep the K6 on the road, but they compliment each other perfectly. Look at that picture of them together in my garage again. Do they not look like 'Gramps' and 'Keeper of the Flame' to you??  ;) ;D

No Damfino didn't sell his house he's just selling Amway on the side to supplement his income ;D

Dont have any problem with Damfino having a trike from Harley. Like the old 70's advertising slogan from Yamaha says Different strokes For Different Folks. After all he does have a fine looking 1976 CB750K6 one of my favorite sohc4 Honda's parked in his garage also.

Yeah Ron, my bag is sitting on the passenger seat strapped around the passenger backrest, and that deck lid at the back is a 2 cu. ft. trunk.  ;)

AHHHHH!!!! Schmitty.....only now did I remember discussing this with Ron   :o  And then I see the CB750 and reminded me it was you that rode that cold cold ride with Godzilla (mounted to your handlebars if I remember) :)

I never picked up on the name change.....nice rides...Rose (wife) has been trying to talk me into the CB1100....will probably be buying one this spring if they are still selling  8)
