1974 cb550 difficult to get carb parts...
« on: March 30, 2019, 11:07:24 PM »
hey gang,

i need to find some "tongued washers" which you will find in the top of each carburetor, holding the link arm to the throttle shaft. anyone have any suggestions? i can find lots of bolts and nuts but not these specific washers used in the carburetors.

i would also like to find these plastic (rubber?) pieces that hook on the throttle linkage between the adjuster holders and link arm.

any tips or advice would be appreciated!

The washers are being made by some one in europe, 500 four are the same. Rubber ones just about impossible.

The rubber parts are just dust shields and they're long gone on most carbs. People have used an old one as a pattern and made new ones out of bicycle inner tube.

thanks for the feedback guys, i will start rolling my own replacement on the rubber dust shields. i am going to look harder for the washers for another few days before taking calj737's advice.

@bryanj, any more info about what company in europe?

also, can anyone look at my link arms in that first post and tell me if that is the correct orientation? it seems wrong... shouldn't they be mirrored or pointing at each other instead of pointing the same direction?

Siriusconinc.com in canada for the link washers, those and main jet clips have been remade, plus the press in pilot jets for the 550k3 pd carbs.

Cant figure how to do links on my dumbfone.
Go to search
Put in Honda as make
Put in Cb500f(no spaces) as model
Click carb parts in items
Go through pages(5 i think)
Unfortunately now listed out of stock but you ask when due.

Didnt try 550 yet but carbs are same except jets

Got you, sorry the link part was most prominent to me originaly.
Those little washers have never been available seperately as you were never suposed to need to strip down carbs that far. Your only option is to fabricate your own from thin shin stock i'm afraid.

OK, what do we think of this replication of the washer? it's made from an aluminum sheet.

i attempted it 3 times thus far, i could continue to try but i don't want to be at this for days. is this good enough to put into my bike?

They're just a form of lock washer to stop the nut from turning and coming loose. What you have made will do the job and as it's under the top cover, no one will see it either.
