Man that is a sharp F'er. If that hasn't been nominated for a BOTM yet, it should be.

Off topic a little but I bought an xs850 yamaha and the gas tank looks like a giant 350F tank. I gotta go out an try it on a cb750 frame today. I can see a 750 painted with a 350F paint scheme, it already has cb400 bars on it. I only have the sandcast and the dragbike at home right now so I'll try it on the dragbike.

update, it didn't fit well at all. too narrow at the rear.

Yes that is a very nice turned out bike. Great colour choice on the tank and the wheels with the cadmium spokes.

It looks like the 400 option is more than just a few tweaks. Since this is a first early 70's SOHC project I want to keep it on a reasonable budget, as I restore and sell most bikes I work on.

Just completed a 83 CB 1000Custom in September and learned a lesson there on keeping it on track financially.

Is there a section on here on how to post pictures. I have a Photo Bucket account and I am just not sure how to import them to the site or individual post?

I got my DSS order finally, I hadn't noticed a backorder when I submitted it, then it took a while to come. The right control has the dreaded purple knob and the left is really light colored. I'm diving into the parts bin to decide on a course of action.
I got rubber carb stacks, air filter, filter spring, handlebars, grips, The headlight's off and I like it off. I have a new bucket but might get some alloy fork ears to hang it on and some smaller turn signals.

Looks good. I don't think the picture does it justice. I bought a new stock bucket from DSS. Since then I saw some cool ones on Ebay for less than the replacement.

Some pretty sweet machines already posted here!
Here's a picture of a CB350F that I built a couple of years back.

And a link to a Youtube video with all the details on the bike if you're interested.

The 350 was first, then they skipped a year before the 400. I assume they made new liners for the 400. The 4mm overbore of the 750/836 is a big cut, I doubt the 350 could take it. That said, I can't say positively.
I wonder if a 400 cylinder/head or entire motor would swap?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is the 400 lower end with the six speed changed things on the frame that required modification to swap into a 350.  Picking my brain, there may be differences in the rear brake lever  because of the same six speed clearance issue, Motor side cover is different on the six speed, and the porting on the heads is a little better.  I don't have a 400 frame or I would know for sure.

Also there are differences how the tanks/seats only swap out together with  modification, guage clusters / fork ears,  different.

Other than that, exactly the same bike...

Pretty much what I expected. Maybe that's why it took a year off between the 350 and 400.

They may have taken a year off because the 350f was not the most popular motorcycle ever made.  My recollection is that is was  a dismal failure and Honda retooled to make the more stylish, faster 400f. ...Larry

Here's a 350F that belongs to a friend. I've been helping her get it sorted. It's the first bike that she truly "owns" versus being borrowed, and she loved getting grease under her fingernails.
Not perfect, but perfect for her and she loves it.

Nice Kevin, did you do a front end swap to get the double front discs?

No, the right fork leg is an original HRC part... Pretty rare item.
The discs are custom made with billet carriers and stainless discs. The calipers are stock. Hollow stainless axle with 20mm bearings.
Billet triple trees were machined using the stock dimensions to fit the stock 33mm fork tubes.
