How bad does this overflow look? Should I worry about it getting knocked lose and getting into places?

After almost two weeks of getting rid of powder overspray from the fuel passages, dealing with a masking plug that had broken off in an airscrew hole, and a million other setbacks, I finally put these back together. LOVE how the blue zinc looks against the two blacks. All new Honda brass and rubbers.

Oil pump got Elan's super kit and a NOS screen I had from earlier. He makes better than stock ones now, just in case you need one ;) The impellers/end caps/body are all pretty pristine with minimal scratches. Feeler gauge checks put them in the like new/nos range, thanks to Bill Benton 8) 8). It seems like I always manage to make him go digging deeeeep into his batcave :P :P

Trying to decide on electrics, was looking around on Rick's stuff and it seems they have a starter solenoid too? Any feedback on that? I'm thinking about

Thanks! Powder is actually a lot more resilient than paint, I've popped them on and off a few times now (had the bowls on there in the wrong order) and its holding up fine. I did get the bowls and crowns done at my local shop where they actually cured it at quite hot temps. The bodies were done by James/harisuluv, but I have no idea how they were cured. I'd have to imagine he uses a special powder that doesn't need high temp curing, otherwise all the brass inserts in the bodies will pop right out, but OCICBW.

Bump for the electrics question. Also, was looking around for wheel balancing stick on weights and could only find them in shiny silver color with a pack of like 40 or something crazy like that. Stopped by my local motorcycle shop and found some REALLY nice black colored K&L weights still in their old school packaging. The best part is, the owner just ripped open the pack and asked me to just take however many I think I'd need which was super cool. Bought a handful for $3, will try and get the wheels finished up this weekend.

I didn't know Rick's made a starter solenoid.  I guess it's a good replacement if yours is roached.

A while back I also read about reading a CBR starter solenoid for 836 and higher engines, but can't find that info anymore, just need to finalize this stuff and move on...

OK, so it seems like their RR is good, but starter sol is iffy at best. Might just do all stock except for the HM upgrades.

Been crazy busy with work and still waiting on quite a few things. The cyls are back from JMR with a bunch of goodies I bought through him, will post pix when I open up everything. Graveyard shift last night, so had little time to work today. Finished up rebuilding the rear shock dampers. There is a long string of fails associated with this attempt (my attempt only, the rebuild is actually super easy), but I think I finally got it done on the third try. First fail was I ended up with mismatched rear shocks, got that corrected and made the monumental blunder of getting them powder coated. Came out looking fantastic but the inner mechanism had welded itself stuck.

Got another set, sandblasted, painted and baked it at home, then finally did the rebuild following the excellent walkthrough over at the hondatwins forum (link earlier in this thread). Couple things I did differently, I added a small amount of AT-205 seal repair/leak stopper to rejuvenate the old top seals and internal rubber parts. Used Dex3 ATF (had on hand, used on my lil Chevy) and the feel is AMAZINGLY uniform. Used zinced up fork drain bolts with the smaller heads that fit nicely without hitting anything. When I tapped the hole for a 6x1.0mm bolt, it felt a very tiny bit too loose, so just for added sealing, I used a tiny dab of permatex on the threads, and torqued it down tightly using new fork drain crush washers. Hopefully these will work out well.

Why all the headache? This one was purely based on the look I'm after, would have been easier to just throw on a set of hagons or konis.

I got the pan head kit, not the socket head kit (I don't like that look). I'm trying to see if he has any extras. The few extra large ones I could cut down and make them work, but I still need a few more for the finned covers that won't work with stock kit sizes...

Thanks Ron, I'll check out Lowes next time I'm out that way. Many places have SS metric stuff, but two things don't always match up, long length and the pan head shape (almost looks like a circular cheese thingy). Worst case, I'll make my own kit with whatever style pan heads I can find locally as long as all the long ones are easy to find...

Man, that brake stay came out looking nice! Wish I could use it on this build, oh well ;) There's a bunch more little stuff I haven't opened up yet, will post pix as I start putting things back together.

Period correct lowering blocks back to new. No plans on using these, so PM me if interested.

Looking good Rafi, I was a bit worried when I first saw your powder coated carbs, but it looks like you've done a meticulous job of cleaning all the surplus powder out of them, so I'm sure they'll work as well as they look! Cheers, Terry. ;D
