New Shop
« on: July 11, 2014, 11:19:53 PM »
Just moved guys and building a new shop.  thought id post a couple pics here and there.

24x38  with half bath.

I got tired of waiting for plumbers to come give me an estimate so i looked up the info online how to rough in toilet, drain and water and sewer line.  going to save about 3k doing it myself.  Duct tape for the win!!!

Gonna be a good sized shop! The more you can do yourself the better. My best friend added a man cave onto the back of his house in San Jose, Ca. a few years back. It was good sized but not a garage. No roll up door...just a big sliding glass door into the backyard and a walk through door on the other side into the side yard. He built heavy duty lumber shelves around the upper perimeter for storage. He did all of his woodworking and loading ammo there. Also put in a bathroom with a shower. He's an electrician by trade so he did all the wiring and sheetrock himself. He had around $50K into it and doing all his project stuff out there and the storage freed up his garage for his wife's Saturn Sky and his Harley.

Tango - check out ICF construction. They're Insulated Concrete Forms and they're easier and cheaper to construct than hollow core CMUs. Plus when you're done, you have a much higher R value on your shop.

I'm envious of the extra space you're building!

Very nice!  Having a detached building as a shop is so wonderful.  Plant your man flag early and prominantely.  Mine is over 100 yds from the main house and out of earshot.   ;D  The other half keeps asking for a key and is eyeballing it as a guest house for family - hers.

Nice shop! Look at all that room, holy cow. I have the same sized shop and no bathroom and there's still no room. I've been checking out your storage skills...impressive. Time to rethink my space.

Very nice. I like it, way better than being cramped in a small single car deal. How do you like your Twingle? I've always wanted to own / ride one.
