Are the tubes the same from 69-78? Need a replacement for my k8. I know the lower legs differ between years.

No the 69-72 are a different style than the 73- up, I think the lower leg got longer in 76.

The 77/78 tubes work in 73 and up..best tube to run as it is plated top to bottom . The 77/789lowers are longer and easier to get fork braces for.

You coud just use the triple trees from the same year that youre getting the tubes from.  The only thing that will make  a difference/issue would be the bearings possibly.  FOr instance, I put an 81 front end on my 73; the 81 had fixed bearings awhile my 73 had ball bearings.  Used ball bearings for the top of my triple tree and fixed on the bottom.  Worked well
