Novice question about 76 cb750 ss carbs on a non-ss

Hey -

My dad has a 76 cb750 that he has owned since it was new, used to take me riding around on it in the early 80s. It's been in storage for probably 25+ years now. I know he's always wanted to rebuild it, he's bought parts for it randomly here and there but just never got around to working on it.

While buying some of those parts he ended up with carbs for an ss, but the bike itself is not an ss. He mentioned that there might be some type of adapter that will allow them to fit.

Is there an adapter for ss carbs to fit on a non-ss bike? Or should we ditch those carbs and look for the correct parts?

We've finally both got the itch and we'd love to get this project going.

I'd really appreciate your insight. Thanks!

Are they the same style of roundtop carb, meaning they are not the later pumper. If they are the same style they will work fine with the correct jets etc needed to tune your particular bike. I have some 76F carbs on a 75 K 750 and all is good.

4 years of SS. F/F1 and F2/F3. Old style carbs on earlier and pumper carbs on latter.

So what do you have?
