Twitchy Tach
« on: October 28, 2014, 01:35:08 PM »
I was on the Dragon and looked down.  The tach was twitching between 0 and 500-back and forth.  I have a new cable last year and it was tightly screwed in to the head and cam cover.  I took the head apart and the needle is attached to the shaft.  I hooked it up to my electric drill and it showed rpm.  Any suggestions as to where to look next would be greatly appreciated.  Also, as I put it back together, I was considering adding a lube to the gears one the rear of the unit.  I don't know wether to use oil or grease but I'm thinking grease.  This is not the pot under the needle.  Thanks for any help.
Ps.  I'd add a picture but I know my limitations.
