Good to hear from you again 'Gersh.

Seems I have options in USA for 500/4 4 into 1 pipes.

I can get them from Carpy, Lossa or Cycle-x.

Kinda like the Cycle-x ones with the reverse cone shorty muffler, but for now I will run the old 4 into 1's on the bike.

Throw Motogpwerks into that mix for a 4 into 1 {stainless} , lots of happy customers on this site, they make a trick swingarm as well...

Meanwhile, I continue to interfere with my CB500F...



It's a dirty job, but I am glad it is done now. That black pipe wrap is obviously dyed, the water runs black when you soak it to use it.

Meanwhile - I was not the least bit surprised when my $50 seat cover went onto my rusty old broken foam seat base and I decided to bin it.

This will be the seat.

The header wrap looks great! Did you use a seperate peice of wrap when the pipes come together? Or is it just a continuation of one of the pipes? Folllwing along, going great!

Thanks man - I wrapped each outer from where they touch an inner, them wrapped each inner from the collector up.

Those GT750 4LS brakes are the original front-wheel-stand brakes!
I tested my 2-disc CB750K2 against one of those bikes one day, in a best-of-5 stops match. The Suzy was almost 50 lbs. heavier, yet it stopped in 3/4 to about 7/8 the distance of my 750, every time, from 50 MPH.
The only downsides we found with them were: the narrow shoes do wear pretty fast for everyday (i.e., commuter) use, and they do fade some on mountain roads being ridden as twisties at significant speed. The CB750 disc, even 1-up, never faded in the same 'match'.

Yeah - if it were all about how to best stop the bike I would have kept to a disc front, but I want period correct look for this (as close as I can get to the Bob Hansen bike) so I have gone with the big 4LS.

Amazing thing was - it slipped in between the forks with a perfect snug fit. I thought I might have needed to shave down the crown on the brake plates but first test fit with the turned down axle was spot on.

Today I decided the CB500/4 is going to be my 'brambler' - which is sort of a brat/scrambler hybrid.

I might put a luggage rack behind the skateboard seat.

Small steps.

I received a box of goodness from 4into1 today so I just had to call by my workshop on the way home and slip a few pieces on.





Switch blocks, grips and levers on the Renthal bars that I swapped over to on the weekend.

So whilst I was in the workshop I mounted up the front fender that I had trimmed down, sanded back and clear coated.



And I took home the ratty old side covers to commence customisation.



This does not involve paint - it involves a Dremel, several cut off discs, some drills ,some files, a keen eye and plenty of time.

Tonights work.

Ended up mounting the skateboard set pan using two bolts and two nutserts into the frame. The Honda NOS seat lock and latch arrived, but it does not fit with what I am doing, so it is now on eBay (if anyone needs a CB500/550 NOS seat lock and latch pin).



I sanded back both rims with a flap disc in the angle grinder and gave them a couple of coats of etch primer, black paint on Saturday.



And I trimmed back, sanded and clear coated the rear fender to match the front one.



All in all - a good couple of hours work.

Another productive day in the workshop.

First up - gave the rims a couple of coats of satin black.

Then on to making up brackets to mount the old Bultaco headlamp I am using.





The brackets seem to work okay, the indicators I am using suit the shape of the headlamp and the hole in the headlamp will be filled with an Acewell gauge.

Then on to cutting out the side panels.



The cutting worked out fine, you can see how poor the surface is on these old things, I have some sanding to do. Then fresh satin black paint and silver flyscreen mesh on the insides.

Finally - a friend of mine and I were playing about with rear light and licence plate mounts for the shortened rear fender - and found that if you 'reverse and flip' a stock mount it can look good. I think a bit of tab trimming and this might work.

Quick question - I have discovered that one of my spark plug leads had broken at some stage and is now held together with a screw and some tape. So, is it possible to fix broken leads that are fitted to CB500/4 coils or do I buy a complete new coil fitted with leads?

In which - where is the best place to get replacement CB500/4 coils and should I buy Dyna coils?

.i like the old coils..they are perfekt  5 ohm for points..if you goes for elektronic..just get some 3 ohm..and get some ekstra power..it use also a bit ekstra on the battery.


.3 cm inside and 1 cm dovn..there are a veld/brass point to konnekt the vire..
press the new vire in and veld it on..and fill the hole vith epoxy..

I have found a good tutorial that was referenced here (somewhere) so we will see where that takes me.
