« on: October 03, 2006, 10:43:40 AM »
I was sent here from one of the guys on DOHC forums.  Seems to be a well informed site and I look forward to annoying you folks with a million and one questions as they come up.

It's a 1977 CB750K.  The guy I got it from wanted to make it into a cafe racer, but his bill got the best of him.  I'd never heard of a cafe racer, but the price was decent.  It has upgraded shocks, cafe handle bars, old school tail lights and he moved the directional up from the front forks to the headlight.

I am fixing the carbs and it is in desperate need of electrical work.  Also he painted the engine black.    ???  Why would someone do that?  As you will be able to tell from the pics, it is a project bike.

Here she is.....

Ooooooo, now that's a bit different! I like those bars.

Welcome aboard.

Feel free to post about bikes, broads, conspiracy theories, politics, warm fuzzies, or anything else your heart desires. Be prepared to be applauded, lambasted and savaged....all in the nicest possible way!

We're always looking for fresh insight into oil use, chain lubrication, tyre preference, gas octane used, helmet type worn and riding gear usage.

Duster - you've been harping about K8's for so long, I'm beginning to think you "doth protest too much"

It's okay to admit you want one, we have a support group ready and waiting...

Those Koni’s are the dog’s they cost about $400+ new, you can get repair parts from Ikon if you need anything for them. Looks like a good project bike!

I think the K8 750 is a very nice looking motorcycle, and cannot see why you all give poor old Eldar and others a hard time.

Where can I get a wrench to adjust then?  Dam thing is a little to high for me.  I picked one up from the local cycle shop, but it was the wrong size.  :(

I have a Koni adjustment tool for my shocks…so I would guess Ikon will have the correct tool for your shocks if you want to buy one, or just punch the ring with a screwdriver and hammer, it works I've done it on other bikes   :o

Also he painted the engine black.    ???  Why would someone do that? p://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y239/bobbycleveland/100_1312.jpg

So the oil leaking out front doesn't show up as much!!!

There was a leak too.  I had to replace this part.

It was cracked.  Why does that happen?  Is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening in the future?

Thanks, cleveland

BLACK MOTOR....could be its an F motor.....what are the numbers stamped into the motor?  should be beside the starter cover.  Take your time sorting out the electrics....probably biggest oopsie newbies make...as well as some pros.
