I posted this question on cb650.com as well.
I have a 1980 CB650 Custom and I picked up a 82 CB650 standard as a parts bike. I was going to do a swap of the forks to lower the front a bit for a better stance. However, I noticed that the bottom of the 82 standard forks are a little longer than the 80 custom by 1/4". Also, the fork brace mounts (fender mounts) are higher on the 82. Is it possible to use the bottom part of the forks from the 80 custom with the tubes/internals of the 82 standard? The 82 is air assist and I plan to keep it if possible.
