Newbie from northern Wisconsin
« on: October 30, 2014, 06:12:26 PM »
Hi everybody.
I managed to buy a 77 CB750F2 at an estate auction for $100 a couple weeks ago.
I plan to spend some of our upcoming long winter bringing it back to a safe, reliable, mostly stock condition.
I have been going through the great build threads on this forum. Tons of good info.
My first bike was a 72 CL450 I bought in 82, then a 76 CB500T, and a variety of bikes since then.

Yep. You need to get some posts on here so you can put up pictures. $100 is a great price. Is it titled? I used to have a 500 twin. I was always told the 450 was a better bike. I would assume it was because it didn't have all the help from the EPA to rob it's horsepower. Anyhow....welcome to the club. This is the place to be if you like old Honda bikes.

I did get a clear title. It cost me as much for title transfer and plates as I paid for the bike.
The cl450 scrambler was a fun bike.   I have been watching craigslist for one, but have not seen anything I could afford.
I will get some "before" pictures up when I am able.

Thanks for all the greetings.
With 27,### miles on the 77 750f2 motor, I better plan on new valve guides, so
I have a weldless frame kit on the way from 754 to make things easier.
I've never had a motorcycle engine apart so it should be a fun learning experience.
Hopefully some of skills from building small block Chevy racing motors will help a little.
I already bookmarked BrandEn's leak free top end thread for reference.
First project is to get the bike from my unheated shed through the back door and into
the living room where it will reside for the winter.
Great conversation starter. http://forums.sohc4.net/Smileys/default/smiley.gif
