Kz based car tire dragbike for the wife
« on: November 01, 2014, 11:24:44 PM »
Well, decided to start on another dragbike project. This one is a KZ based conversion car tire chassis. One option is to take the 1425cc engine off her small tire dragbike but i'm really thinking about building a 1500cc motor with a 1-2-3 auto tranny and installing a nitrous kit.

Took the chassis to a friend to make some spacers for the wheels and to weld a few more brackets onto the frame.  Trying to turn it into a roller so we can get the chassis set up to fit my wife. Will update as i go along.

Yes, Monoque rear and an RC Comp front. Trying to find an RC for the rear at a good price. Right again on the forks. 2 for 2 today Frank.

Okay fellas, my life doesn't revolve around the SOHC bikes. But.... I did drop the tranny in this afternoon and buttoned up the cases. Just need to pull the clutches back out to check the condition of the steels and fibers. I'll get on that tomorrow after work and hopefully hang the engine back in the frame tomorrow night. I'd like to test on Wednesday night at Darlington. Need to be sure this thing is shifting correctly. Going to replace the shift button too along with changing our the air kill assembly with a mps electronic kill.

That is correct Rocky. Front half is a KZ1000, with a bolt on car tire double club foot swingarm.

I think we've raced against each other in competition maybe twice. She beat me once and i got her the next time, only because she forgot to put the bike back in gear. Lol

Quick update.

Had to locate another rear wheel for the bike. The hub didn't allow the wheel to "center" inside the arm. I got lucky and a friend removed one from his bike to upgrade to a newer style wheel. My machinist friend is currently making spacers so we can turn the chassis into a bonafide roller after we mount the new front and rear slicks on the rims. I'll post a few pictures, hopefully on friday, of the roller.

I also dropped a set of virgin Mark 2 cases and virgin Mark 2 crank off to the him to get the cases bored for the big block. An index rod passed through the crank so he's going to weld it up for me. The big block has to be resleeved  and bored to 85mm. I'll be ordering a new set of 85mm (1500cc) pistons on  friday along with a new cam chain, upper and lower case studs. I want to at least get the bottom end of the motor built by mid January and then get the head set up with new cams after that. The plan is to have a brand new engine built by the end of January. I'll try to pain the body work at the end of February or first of March- looking pretty isn't going to win racing so its the very last thing i'll tackle. I'd like to have the bike ready to go down the track for testing by mid March so we can be on schedule for the first  Man Cup race of the season on April 10-12 down in Valdosta, Ga.

Stay tuned fellas!!!!!!
