1970 cb750 JDM
« on: June 08, 2014, 04:53:32 AM »
I finally got around to working on my new KO.  I have noticed most of the little differences between normal K0's and JDM K0's.  But I came across a silver cylinder with a wire harness going to it clamped to the frame behind the coil packs.  I have never seen this before on any other bike and it looks like the wires from it go up to the back of the headlight bucket.  can anyone give me some idea what this is.

That is part of the red speed warning light that is between the tach and speedo. I bought a 70 JDM new in Japan in 1970 and the light would first start blinking at I thank around 55 mph and then just stay on. Do you also have a part that is in line with the speedo cable and the speedo?

And do you have the warning light on the top triple tree between the gauges?

Stev-o I do still have it but not the part that between the speedo and speedo cable. I would like to find that part again. I would have to have the correct speedo cable also. On the original cable the outer part of the cable was shorter than the inner. The part I was asking about was like a little generator I thank that powered the light.

I would think those parts would be hard to find, good luck.  Check Yamiya...

That’s a hard-to-find part. If it’s still available from Honda, the PN is: 38500-300-004

As you probably already know, JDM part numbers are not found in the Honda European, USA, etc. parts systems. You will need to go thru a Honda dealer in Japan or Okinawa for their JDM parts. If know someone who lives or visits those countries, then it becomes easier.

Dannie

I scanned the diagram from my 750 JDM parts book.

The pics in reply #8 are from my JDM photo file reference, I don’t have the part you need. :(

guitarkev66, Yes I thank your speedo has been changed. Mine is KMH and it is what came on the bike. Please let me know if you would like to sell your speedo cable and that part that hooks to the speedo. Also there is a small sticker under the red light that says SPEED WARNING LIGHT in Japanese. I had my bike for over 40 years before I found out what exactly what it said. Dream750 I want to thank you for that part # that will help me try to track it down.

Here's my gauges.  What does it say in Japanese around the red light.  Also would there have been any performance difference with the JDM motor compared to the US version?

I see that the sticker is above the red light( haven't looked at mine close lately) it says Seed Warning Light according a Japanese man I met at a plant I worked at. I do not know of any performance difference.
