Topic: Production Date

Is there a way to find the production date using the VIN number ?
My 750 is titled as a 1970 but it has all the earmarks of a 1969.
I'm not sure if there was any differences between the two years but I would like to find out.
Somewhere during its life the tag on the steering head was damaged and the only thing visible is the VIN number.
The VIN number is:::::::::::CB7501016455
Any help would be appreciated.

Back in the day the bikes were titled as the  year of when they sold- not as when they were built. You coukd very well have a '69 that wasn't sild til '70 and titled as such.

My bike is a late build 71 model and titled as a 72 but its 100 percent a k1

My K1 has a build date of 9/70 and titled as a '72.

For some countries the information in the link above can only be used as a guide. I live in New Zealand and have a 1974 K4 - the engine number is in the K4 series but the frame is a 1972 model and yes, it is the original frame. It also has a few other K2 parts fitted such a the single fuse system. NZ being a small market probably ended up with some bikes made up of leftover parts I suspect.

I have frame #10166xx and the tag says 12/1969..........................but would not have arrived for sale until January or February of '70.  A lot of dealers would change the model year at the same time as the auto industry.........usually in September.

My K2 is a 11/71 and is almost a K1. My K3 is #225 from 9/72 and is almost a K2!

It's on the neck, Sgt.  Maybe your bike doesn't have one.
